PERSONALITY: Melinda is a sweet and kind, sensitive woman. She is always there for her family and friends. She is loving and caring but also very naive as it is shown. Melinda is definitely an over protective woman and smart too as well as loyal and headstrong/ stubborn, she can be funny and tricky as well as sneaky too. She is a good mother, wife and friend as well as daughter and granddaughter, even so she doesn't believe that she is. After all she does lack self esteem at times and it is noticeable too.
Melinda is loyal to everyone and loves her family and friends, even so they do fight at times and such yet the love is still there. Also when she is fooled once it's hard to get her trust again. Her mother was lucky that she forgave her eventually and that they are close again, but it took a very long time. However, not everyone is lucky to gain her trust again after losing it. With Melinda if you betray her once there is second chances, unless you are lucky enough as well as if you prove to her that you earned it.
Melinda always wanted to owe an antique store as she always loved antiques and once she was done with college and was ready she finally opened it believing that she could pull it through which she did but it took her a bit to believe that she could pull it through. That is one proof to her having a low self esteem. Melinda likes her life but there are time she wishes that things were different as most things she goes through are scary as well as confusing not to mention bad too but she is used to that even if she hates that.

HISTORY: Melinda was born to Beth and Paul Eastman but before she was born her father was arrested, for a crime he never committed and it left her mother heartbroken. Melinda's mother did her best to get help to save Paul but that way Melinda's mother got to close to the lawyer who supposedly helped her try clear her husband's name and Melinda's father but in reality the guy did all he could to get Paul even more in trouble. Melinda's biological father couldn't handle it anymore in jail so he killed another criminal and escaped prison. At that time Melinda was around 6 and the lawyer and her mother were married at the time and she thought that guy was her father but in reality he wasn't but it took her a long time find out. Anyways, Paul and her adopted father fought down stairs at her childhood home and she heard everything and saw everything threw her bedroom window but blocked it all out. When she was pretty young her step father left who she thought of as her actual father which hurt her and she believed hurt her, however in reality her mother feared him.
In school Melinda was a loner because everyone called her a freak because she could talk to ghost/ spirits, she used the fact that she could see and communicate with ghosts/spirits to find out if her boyfriends lied to her and dump them. Till Melinda's grandmother set her down and explained to her that it was wrong. Then her grandmother taught her how to develop her gift. Not long after that her grandmother died which hurt her even more then her mother because she was much closer to her, since her mother tried to get away from her mother, Melinda's grandmother because she wanted nothing to do with the so called gift as she tried to get Melinda away too but with no luck. Slowly she and her mother grew a part just like her mother and her mother did. After College Melinda moved away as she started helping ghosts/ spirits and their loved ones to get a closer like her grandmother taught her. That way she met her current husband Jim. They fell in love right away even if they had one small argument at that time but they solved them as then they started dating and eventually they got married and moved in together. He kept working as a fireman just as he was on the day they met and he was also a paramedic, while she opened her antique store. Jim knew what she could do and accepted that as well as he helped her out with that. Not long after they moved to Grandview together in the same home she met a new friend and got attacked by some evil spirits. Evil spirits who tried to make sure she won't cross over anymore ghosts. She also lost the friend who also knew her secret and who was her partner, the same evil spirits tried harder than ever to stop from helping her friend and other people who died in a plane that she foresaw, the plane accident was why her friend drew to see her brother the day she died. Melinda won as she watched the spirits cross over and the evil ghosts leave.
Awhile after that she mt a new friend with her son, she even helped them goodbye to their husband / father named Charlie and let him cross over. After that the two became her new secret keepers other than her husband. Over time they met a new friend a professor who helped them out a lot or rather her, her husband and at times her friend's son who is also her friend. Melinda then considered with her husband to have kids which they almost had but lost before it even became a baby but the two didn't gave up and kept on trying. However not long after that her husband got shot in the shoulder and died that day at the hospital but because he was so stubborn he refused to move on and when a certain guy died and his soul left his body and crossed over Jim used it as his chance and got in to the body. Also Melinda did try to stop him but with no luck. As he woke up he didn't recognize her and she was scared she lost him but tried everything not to lose hope till eventually they dated even so she called hi a different name since he had no memory of himself as Jim. It took her a while to tell him the truth which almost got they to separate forever but it didn't but not after that when they dealt with a very dangerous situation he told her he couldn't do that anymore, so they had a fight and she ended up telling him the truth which didn't help matters but only made things worse. After that they had a talk in which she officially dumped him but not long after that when she got in danger and he went to save her he hit his head and his memory as Jim came back and they got back together and out of danger. A while after that they found out about them having a baby and considering the time the baby was conceived they understood that it happened before he died and came back. Happily the two planed a new wedding since as far as the world was concerned Jim was 'Dead' and Melinda was with 'Sam Lucas'. Before the wedding things went a bit crazy when a certain book showed up, and even so she heard the warnings she checked it, only to find out that everything that happened was planed a head. However she and Jim still got married and then had their baby boy whom they called Aiden Lucas.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: They smiled right away as they saw her. In fact they were very happy to see her. It was no joke. Aiden was with Delia who came to stay in the vacation with them a night before. It helped them because that way they could leave him with her and hang out with Cordelia too. Which was why they were there without their son. Anyway, then watched her sit and listened to her.
"Yeah we are, don't we? We just love each other very much" Melinda said as she and Jim looked at each other and smiled. Then they looked back at her. They looked at the menu next to them trying to decide what to order. It was great meeting a new good friend and they were not regretting meeting her as they saw no reason to. In fact they saw it as a good sign that that met her. As that gave them a new Ally which was definitely a big plus. The more alias the better or so they believe anyway.
They had problem to decide what to order and by the looks of things she did too. They were not to sure what to pick because most of the options if not all seemed rather good and interesting. Once in awhile they glanced at her as they wondered what was she going to order. They figured that if their orders were the same then maybe one of them could order for all with no worries and problems. Yet, it could be that they had different ideas of what to order. However, they still wondered what she wanted to order.
As Cordelia lowered her menu they did too and peered back at her as she peered at them. They listened to her speak. "Well we are fine, thank you. How are you doing?" Melinda said once more as Jim just looked between the two. "It's good to see by the way" Jim said as this time, Melinda agreed with him. True they only saw each other 24 hours ago but it didn't mean anything at all. They still could ask her that as things could change by that time. It was why they were not surprised when she asked them how were they. Jim and Melinda exchanged looks as they heard Cordelia the question that she asked. "Well, one but we helped her cross over. also she almost set a house on fire but in the end she didn't" Melinda replied. "It was scary" Jim added as Melinda looked at him. They exchanged looks they looked at Cordelia once more.
They were surprised that Cordelia didn't notice that Aiden wasn't with them. Yet, when she did noticed they were not surprised either even if they expected her to notice that sooner. "He was playing with a friend of ours. Who is staying with us in the hotel room not to far from here. Her name is Delia banks. And before you ask, yes she knows everything" Melinda replied. Jim just nodded to what she said because he agreed with her. "Delia is close friend. So close that we feel like she is family too" Jim said as Melinda nodded in agreement.
